The EU’s Revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2) is a fundamental piece of payments industry legislation adopted by European Parliament in January 2016. The new set of rules aims to improve innovation, increase competition, reinforce consumer protection and improve Internet payments security within all EU member states, which must transpose the legal text into their national laws by January 2018.
